In this post, we will discuss three ways to refocus your morning to ensure you have the most productive day possible.
1. Don’t Pick Up Your Phone
The first thing you do in the morning may be to look at your phone. This is actually counter-productive, even if you are checking emails. When you first wake up or if you are already up, put your phone down for a full 30 minutes. Endless scrolling on social media or answering mindless emails can lead you to waste precious time. Sitting down at your desk or workspace and focusing can help you eliminate distractions. If your phone dings or you get calls frequently, limit your notifications or put your phone on airplane mode. This will help you get in the zone for whatever you need to do the rest of the day.
2. Consider Digestion
Staying hydrated is important for focus. According to the Havard School of Public Health, hydration can improve cognition, mood, and sleep quality. Start your day with a big glass of water to get your juices flowing. Additionally, consider fasting. Fasting has several benefits including weight loss, increased concentration over time, reduced inflammation, and even improved brain function. Fasting gives your system a chance to rest and your mind a chance to be occupied with things other than your next meal. Skipping meals one or two times a week can the stress out of meal planning and be a great way to implement meditation or some other routine to help you focus in place of a meal.
3. Get Outside
Whether you live in a city or a rural area, it’s always a good idea to get up and go outside. Fresh air and a change of scenery can invigorate your body for a long day of work ahead. A walk in the morning can be a wonderful time to generate ideas, think about what you have planned for the day, and start off the morning with momentum. Accomplishing a small task like walking helps your brain have a small hit of dopamine. This gears you up to accomplish more tasks as you head back inside. Following these three ways to refocus your morning, you’re sure to be set up for a successful day!
